**Job Summary**:
Aon Reinsurance South Africa has an exciting opportunity for a Broker in our Rest of Africa Treaty division on a hybrid role with the flexibility to work virtually and from our offices in Sandton The primary role of the Broker is to negotiate the best possible prices and capacity for reinsurance clients to protect their portfolios, by placing cover within global markets on a day-to-day basis ensuring the best outcome for Aon and its clients. The Broker also accords and coordinates to the marketing and intercession of the business within global markets in line with Aon global standards and client approved marketing strategy.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Act as the primary contact within the broking team for specific clients (assigned to the Broker) to provide specialist advice to the client and client team.

Responsible for working out the best prices, capacity and conditions of placement using knowledge, expertise and market presence for desired cover, where appropriate.

Arrange terms and conditions of placement with lead underwriters, acquire quotes, and handle underwriter queries and requests for information.

Provide advice to clients and colleagues on the scope of coverage available for different products to establish the appropriate product that meets the clients' reinsurance requirements.

Identify appropriate channels for risk placement based on clients' and Aon’s market security guidelines and other requirements prior to placement.

Overall responsibility for ensuring complete placement, quality review of reinsurance documentation at a pre-determined stage in the process (in line with Aon Compliance and Audit requirements and SOP’s) to establish whether the selected product accurately reflects clients' requirements.

Create, maintain and manage long-term business relationships with underwriters to enhance service delivery.

Establish new opportunities for risk placement or facilitate the settlement and payment of claims.

Be present in supporting business development initiatives, as required.

Provide advice to clients and colleagues on market developments and share knowledge of market trends to enhance the overall value proposition.

Support the effective delivery of global service through network relationships, where appropriate.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**Qualifications**:
Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.

Preferably University Degree in Actuarial, Insurance, Risk Management or any other course with emphasis to business or analytical (Maths, Engineering, etc).

An appropriate NQF level 4 FAIS /short-term insurance qualification.

First level regulatory examination for representatives.

**Knowledge**:
Sound business know-how and financial competence.

Knowledge of the reinsurance environment.

Knowledge of broking/insurance/underwriting in the reinsurance treaty environment.

Knowledge of clients’ needs in the reinsurance market

Knowledge of Africa markets and Africa clients.

**Skills and Attributes**:

**Experience**:
Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in broking/insurance/underwriting/reinsurance treaty environment.

Experience working in Africa markets and with Africa clients is preferable.

**FAIS Compliance**:
Comply with the applicable Fit and Proper provisions as set out in the Board Notice 106 of 2008 issued by the Financial Services Board governing Financial Advisory and Intermediary services Act, 2002 - Determination of Fit and Proper requirements for Financial Service Providers, 2008.

Have knowledge and understanding of the applicable provisions set out in the General Code of Conduct for Authorized Financial Services Providers and Representatives (as governed by the Financial Services Board, Board Notice 80 of 2003).

Have knowledge and understanding of the applicable provisions set out in the Short-Term Insurance Act No 53 of 1998 and supporting regulations.

Understand the provisions of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), No 38 of 2001 and amendments thereof.
