Retail Baker

We are a well-established retail bakery looking for a talented and experienced Baker to join our creative team. We specialize in freshly baked goods, pastries, and custom-designed cakes, and we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for craftsmanship, flavour, and presentation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and bake a range of breads, pastries, cupcakes, and specialty desserts.
- Design and decorate custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, and special occasions.
- Collaborate with customers to bring their cake concepts to life.
- Manage daily production schedules to ensure product freshness and availability.
- Maintain bakery cleanliness and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Monitor stock levels and assist in ingredient ordering and cost control.
- Support and train junior staff where necessary.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a retail bakery environment.
- Proven experience in custom cake design, decorating, and fondant work.
- Excellent knowledge of baking techniques, flavour pairings, and presentation.
- Creative flair with attention to detail and design aesthetics.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Qualification in Baking, Pastry Arts, or Culinary Arts will be an advantage
- Applicants must reside in Durban or its Northern Suburbs'

Pay: R6 000,00 - R8 500,00 per month
