As an **Engineering Foreman** at our **Isibonelo Colliery**, you will coordinate and supervise the activities of the Plant & Services section to provide a service as required to Operational teams on the operation.

Thungela Resources [Thungela means “to ignite” in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.

Take on the responsibility to coordinate and supervise the activities of the Coal operation, while providing an excellent service. You will also oversee the technical requirements by providing your Engineering and Leadership expertise. **More of your responsibilities will include**:

- Ensuring the code of practice and procedures are updated and communicated
- Ensuring that machinery and equipment perform safely to design capabilities while ensuring environmental compliance
- Develop and implementing appropriate maintenance systems and monitor feedback received in relation to equipment breakdowns in the Plant & Services Section
- The development of project plans with Engineering Planners while ensuring cost management and carry out the annual budgeting exercise, control overtime worked and expenditure
- The monitoring and reporting on financial expenditure will be essential
- Ensure team roles are well defined while supporting and participating in the training and development requirements of each team member. As part of this role, you will mentor and coach employees

**This role is in the Engineering department at band 7 and will be reporting to the General Engineering Superintendent**
**Qualifications**
- Matric/ N3
- Trade Certificate NQF Level 4. (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Supervisory Certificate & Risk Management will be advantageous
- Proven track record of being in a supervisory role

**Experience**

**Must have at least 5 years’ experience working with the following equipment**:

- 22Kv Substations
- Building maintenance Reticulation
- Crushing Plant electrical reticulation
- Different types of motors: AC, DC, Synchronous Motors
- Apron Feeder
- Crushers
- Conveyor belts
- Screens
- Metal detection devices
- Safety devices
- Drive units at the plant (Mechanical and Electrical)
- Experience in structural maintenance
- Experience in good rigging practices
- Good knowledge of the trade and legislations governing the Mining industry, Mine Health & Safety Act
- Maintenance crew experience advantageous
- Understanding of Thungela Code of Conduct
- Display good understanding of equipment & tools and uses
- Good sense of troubleshooting
- Be able to work under pressure

**Additional Information**
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Knowledge of Thungela Operational and Engineering Codes of Practices, policies and procedures
- Computer literate and good working knowledge of all Microsoft office products (Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word etc)
- Work management knowledge and SAP Knowledge is essential
- In Depth knowledge of defect elimination process (RCA Process) is essential
- Knowledge of the equipment type and the duty it must perform
- Knowledge of procedures for raising work orders and requisitions
- Communication skills would be advantageous
- SHE Risk Management
- Problem Solving skills would be advantageous
