Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa Limited (MRoA) has been operating in South Africa for over 50 years, although the Munich Re (Group) was active on the Continent via Munich Re in Munich for some years prior to commencing the Southern African operation in Johannesburg in 1968. The Head Office of MRoA is in Johannesburg, with a client service Life office situated in Cape Town. The successful Munich Re team is expanding to keep up with recent growth and future ambitions and to further develop our strong client centric approach.

Your job

This position bears responsibility for:

- Setting terms of trade for group, retail and funeral business
- Conducting ad hoc investigations into drivers of experience across the Life Business
- Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including LH2 division (Singapore)
- Maintain research and development database
- Maintaining the highest standard of technical competence & ensuring terms of trade guidelines are met
- Supporting life client management strategy - accompanying client managers as functional experts and delivering technical presentations to clients when necessary
- Supporting overall Life Business strategy & risk management function
- Liaise with technical pricing, group pricing and valuations on research areas
- Strong analytical skills, statistical skills and attention to detail
- An understanding of the South African insurance/reinsurance market
- Good verbal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- Excellent programming skills in actuarial/statistical programming languages
- Able to work under pressure

**Profile**:
Qualifications:

- 4+ years relevant experience in Life reinsurance or insurance business
- Newly or nearly qualified actuary
- Data analysis and basis setting experience with sound technical understanding of life insurance dynamics

Experience and Skills:

- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- VBA/Excel
- SQL Server
- Power BI/Power Query/Power Pivot
- Axis experience analysis software would be beneficial
- Strong problem solving and data management skills
- Excellent communication skills
