Logistics Employee

The role:_

The Logistics Controller is responsible for executing on-site logistics and/or warehousing, in with specifications, orders and safety policies, in order to ensure safe, efficient and effective material and equipment flow throughout the site and optimally support the IHC production and distribution processes in realizing their objectives.

Organisational structure

The Logistics Controller works as an integral part of the Services Department, providing logistics support to the Services, Project Engineering and Products Departments, reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Inbound and storage

Ensure the internal tracking process is updated for incoming goods, and completeness, leading up to consignment preparation, despatch and customer invoicing. All items received are to be logged in the relevant tracking sheet and prepared for final consignment preparation.

Transport documentation

Prior to despatch of all parts and consignments, the logistics controller will prepare all necessary transport documentation, including delivery notes, packing lists and customs invoices and issue to customers.

Customer notifications

Goods ready for despatch or collection will be reported to the customer prior to any collection or delivery by the logistics controller. Upon such notifications, all relevant delivery packs will be compiled and issued to the customer timeously, to ensure collections and deliveries are effected.

Transport / outbound

The logistics controller will make all necessary transport arrangements with freight and courier agents from various locations to their destinations, including local courier, national haulage and importation from overseas.

Customer invoicing

Customer invoicing of spare parts will be coordinator by the logistics controller, to ensure all parts are invoiced, timeously, within the specified invoicing periods.

Administration

Administrate intake and distribution of materials and/or equipment in relevant systems, registration of hours and other relevant logistics administration to provide relevant reports to stakeholders.

Stock management

Order materials and/or equipment where needed, register in the relevant stock database, provide input on performance of logistics suppliers and inspect, manage and maintain materials, tools and/or equipment on stock.

SHEQ

Prepare and execute all activities in line with SHEQ rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines, and awareness, including addressing anomalies to others.

Authorities

Authorised in making all logistics related decisions within the boundaries of the departmental operations plan and budget, within the boundaries of the Delegation of Authorities Matrix.

Qualifications & Competencies
- Tertiary quality-related qualification or certification;
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in logistics and freight coordination;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- High attention to detail;
- Self-motivated, organized and results driven;
- Disciplined - work with limited supervision;
- Operate as part of a team;
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project)
