**About The Role**

The Strategic Communications practice of FTI Consulting is one of the world's most highly regarded communications consultancies. We offer a broad base of disciplines to clients including strategic consulting, corporate communications and issues management.

The South African team advises both large international and national companies and brands on all aspects of corporate reputation including communications strategy, senior counsel, media relations, stakeholder engagement, thought leaderships and issues management.

We are currently looking for a Senior Consultant (3-5 years' experience) to join our expanding Public Affairs team in Johannesburg who can bring their skill set to the team to support our clients.

This team supports leading corporates (listed and non-listed) and state-owned entities across a variety of sectors. We counsel clients facing regulatory and reputational changes to help them capitalise on opportunities and mitigate or defeat risks, with a reputation-led approach, cognizant of the political and economic motivations of the initiators, the procedural and engagement processes of relevant institutions through which they work and the tactics of the various stakeholders.

**What You'll Do**

**Deliver to Clients**:

- Develop professional relationships with clients and respond to their requirements for advice, deliverables and counsel when required
- Assist senior team members in managing accounts on a day-to-day basis with supervision and develop excellent relationships with clients
- Proactively map and track stakeholders for the clients and provide recommendations on how best to engage with each group
- Produce drafts of stakeholder plans aligned to the clients' strategies that shape and inform the political and policy environment and help to deliver them with senior oversight
- Demonstrate high quality original thinking around analysis, research documents and plans derived from client briefs
- Anticipate potentially difficult situations and be able to evaluate alternatives
- Focus and commitment to client retention through exemplary service delivery

**Support Business Development**:

- Research potential clients and opportunities
- Proactively network with stakeholders and potential client prospects
- Work alongside senior members of the team on business development activities such as pitch preparation and delivery

**Team Involvement**:

- Share knowledge, insights and experience with colleagues
- Participate in learning and development initiatives
- Develop relationships with other teams within Strategic Communications and FTI

**What You Will Need to Succeed**

**Basic Qualifications**
- Relevant public policy/public affairs experience either in a consultancy in public affairs or in-house
- Political studies, political economy, economics or law graduates preferred. Post-graduate qualifications will be an advantage
- Training, experience or insights into stakeholder/influencer analytics, commercial market research, public opinion polling
- Experience with market intervention projects, competition issues, environmental and sustainability projects, BBBEE and transformation issues and past engagement projects with National Treasury and t
