BI & Data Analyst

**PURPOSE OF POSITION**

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES**
- Gathering requirements
- Meet with internal and external stakeholders to gather an understanding of their reporting requirements and operational objectives.
- Review existing datasets and reporting designs, then propose and implement solutions that exceed expectations.
- Maintenance, Development and Enhancements:

- Responsible to create, maintain and review the integrity of datasets and reports.
- Assumes the responsibility for the development and maintenance of Interactive Reports and Dashboards.
- Ensure that all data within the database is structured and uniform.
- Where data integrity is in question, draft and propose a plan which can be used to restore integrity and meet reporting requirements.
- Responsible for running data extracts.
- Benchmark queries and ensure that unnecessary load is not placed on the servers.
- Design and Develop data structures:

- Develop and maintain data collection workbooks.
- Assume responsibility to discuss and provide the initial database design which will support gathered requirements.
- Review populated data collection workbooks for integrity.
- Import data collection workbooks into systems.
- Assume responsibility for the management of the Database. Responsible for Business Intelligence activities by analysing client data, interrogating trends and reporting anomalies against the client KPI’s on an ongoing basis.
Execute the appropriate level of data analysis to assist with system queries, issues and breakdowns.
- Responsible for pro-active data analysis to highlight possible gaps, system issues and breakdowns.

- Support and Training
- Frequently conduct training with users on reporting platforms and ensure they are acquainted with the implemented reporting solutions.
- Provide users with support on reporting platforms and reporting solutions.
- Assume responsibility to report any system related risks/concerns to the Systems Manager. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with Internal Clients, External Clients and Service Providers.
Tracks and resolves problems promptly and effectively.
- Ensures optimal service.
- Ensures that deadlines are met.
- Obtains and conveys information as needed.
- Logs all problems including root cause and resolution information.
- Promotes goodwill and a positive image of the Company.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with FM staff, management and other departments/divisions.
- Liaise with Business Process Analyst to support ongoing system alignment with business processes.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Education/Certification: Minimum Matric
- MS Suite / SQL Certifications or related courses preferable
**REQUIRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE**
- Excellent knowledge of database structures
- Excellent working knowledge with SQL
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite (including Power Query and Power BI)
**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
- Minimum 2 years working knowledge within a systems environment using MS SQL
