Mechanical Draughtsman

**The following position has become available within Chimerical Technology (Pty) Ltd**:
**Position: Mechanical Draughtsman**
**Location: Somerset West, Cape Town (Office)**
**Reporting to: Engineering Manager**
**Experience required: 3-5 years**
**Contract: 12 (Twelve) months, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role.**
**Salary: R30 000.00 - R35 000.00**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Create technical drawings from process and instrumentation diagrams
- Generate 3D models and plant renderings
- Produce fabrication drawings, weld details and isometrics
- Detail piping line items and routing in accordance with P&ID standards
- Develop “as-built” drawings from final systems
- Design equipment layouts and site arrangements
- Design frames and support structures
- Prepare comprehensive Bills of Materials
- Assist engineering team with drafting of system plans
- Mechanical equipment reviews, selection and optimization
- Follow internal procurement procedures to place orders and manage equipment
- Resolve design issues and discrepancies during the drafting process

**Skills**
- Proficiency in either SolidWorks or Inventor is essential
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience in Plant 3D toolset is essential
- Proven track record as CAD draughtsman
- English - Full professional proficiency
- Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook is essential
- Effective communication through presentations, schematic drawings, and reports
- Systematic problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Proficient use of hand tools and practical hands-on skills
- Practical and physically fit
- Self-motivated and driven

**EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS**

Minimum requirement - N4 Mechanical Certification
