- Generate manual and digital patterns, with a preference for digital patterns which may involve creating from scratch or modifying existing patterns for menswear or ladieswear. Coordination with Sample and Design departments is essential to ensure alignment on final construction and details based on CADs or provided samples.
- Assign unique pattern style numbers for new patterns to avoid duplication and maintain organization.
- Occasionally assist in cutting panels and liaise with sample machinists for garment sewing queries and outwork requirements.
- Prepare position markers for samples requiring outwork and conduct final quality checks on finished garments, including measurements, fit on dummies, outwork positions, and overall sample quality. Ensure proper placement of washcare and sample tags.
- Ensure accuracy of sample spec sheets for production, including details like zip lengths and binding widths. Complete full-size specs at this stage.
- Facilitate final quality check by taking samples to the Quality Assurance team and maintaining communication for timely feedback.
- Document samples with photographs, capturing key details such as side slits and button count, and share them in designated communication channels.
- Hand over approved samples to Production Coordinators, ensuring proper documentation and tracking of garments throughout the production process. Assist with any production issues as they arise.
- Possess basic knowledge of fabric characteristics, including woven vs. knit fabrics and shrinkage calculations for denim. Assist in rating for costing purposes when required.
- Ensure each pattern has a signed-off sample and accurate spec. Work towards having two production samples for each style.
- Maintain organization in the Patterns area and workspace, keeping pattern rails neat and tidy according to brand and alphabetical order.
