Technical Architect

PURPOSE:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & SUCCESS FACTORS:
Key Result Areas Success Factors Customer Experience Support the continuous improvement of Customer Experience by understanding and ensuring our existing and new customers’ expectations are met or exceeded.
- Provide operational support and ensure availability of business-critical systems
- Ensure all systems are built to the highest possible levels of quality
- Ensuring all employees within the team obtain the necessary level of training Smart Profitable Growth Contribute to PetSure’s profitable growth by developing a pipeline of potential customers and managing existing partners to maximise performance.
- Strategic Planning
- Help plan and manage the technology roadmap for the Digital platform
- Ensure software architectures are modular, extensible, and future proof
- Maintain knowledge of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices
- Evaluate new technologies being considered for new products/systems
- Analyse multiple technical alternatives and contribute to recommendations which impact technical solutions

Growth
- Work closely with the Head of Digital Platform, Head of IT Architecture, and other Technical/Business Architects to actively look for opportunities for improvements to ensure all systems can scale appropriately to meet SLAs
- Work collaboratively to establish software development practices for Digital team to ensure quality, clarity, and efficiency
- Assist Solution Architect, DevOps and other IT teams, and internal business teams to design, build, and support new systems
- Provide technical consultancy to development team on architectural issues and provision recommendations
- Willingly share knowledge across the team and wider business
- Profitability
- Monitor and respond to fix critical system events on P1 systems outside of business hours as per agreed support roster
- Identify opportunities for cost savings in operations and system designs
- Work with other IT teams and wider business stakeholders in defining business requirements and undertake detailed system design in line with agreed architecture guidelines
- Identifying and resolving cross-capability, cross-release issues that impact the business architecture integrity
- Work with businesses to combine technical expertise with innovative thinking and solutions
- Work in a small, dynamic agile team to solve design problems and providing corresponding solution specifications; ensuring adequate collaboration
- Mentor, guide and support other team members and help develop shared knowledge in digital technologies
- Work unsupervised towards tasks agreed with your line manager

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN ROLE:
Knowledge / Qualifications Experience

Prior to joining PetSure:

- Degree qualified - Information Systems / Computer Science. Masters preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in Application/Technical Architecture or similar
- 10+ years development experience in Microsoft technologies especially.Net and C#, Web Apps, Serverless, SQL Server as well as Microsoft Integration tools
- Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Automation and Cloud technologies

Essential:

- Minimum 5 years of experience worked in similar role
- Strong experience in.Net, Web Frontend, REST APIs, Web Apps and RDBMS platforms
- Strong experience in Azure & AWS Technologies like Azure Blob storage, Service Bus, Serverless, SQL PaaS, etc.
- Proven project leadership and technical leadership skills

Knowledge / Qualifications Experience
- Strong background in both BAU and Project based work

In first 3 months:

- Develop and solid understanding of PetSure’s environments, technology, and operating processes
- Review product roadmaps, project backlogs, and software architecture. Work with managers/architects to design new systems.
- Establish development standards, documentation/processes requirements, and release management for new systems
- Assist in the interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new developers to grow the team
- Commence development of new platforms
- Ability to translate user needs into a technical solution.
- Experience in people management and mentoring of development employees
- Familiar with establishing software development standards and practices
- Architecting and developing high availability, mission critical distributed systems
- Creating and managing APIs
- Strong, confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical / non-technical people from all levels of the organisation and present to small audiences
- Ability to work to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet agreed deadlines
- Small team management, including the ability to critically evaluate a team’s work

Desirable:

- Practical experience implementing platforms in Financial/Insurance environments for payments, claims, settlements
