**Job Purpose**:
This role will be pivotal in supporting the velocity at which the business is conducted, using transport planning to create optimal transport routes/plans for our business. Determine the most cost-effective way to meet service commitments whilst leveraging saving opportunities through consolidation of vehicle routing and scheduling.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Oversee Planning team and guide resources around analyzing of orders on origin and destination locations
- Ensure Planning teams Consolidate orders into loads, and guide resources in determining the best way to move those loads
- Increase DHL asset utilization
- Effectively automate routing process
- Manage, plan and utilize all internal resources to ensure maximum productivity
- Reduce operating costs through Improved fleet utilization, reduce waiting time, reduce distance travelled, etc
- Maximize routing solutions: balance service levels and delivery costs
- Fixed dynamic routing: Manage costs per route, customer, order sequence, lowest cost, shortest route, shortest distance
- Ensure all systems are used effectively and ensure teams use the appropriate systems
- Support LH planners in daily market purchase (Subcontractors)
- Review Regional Lane LH trends and propose improvement initiatives
- Health and safety management and compliance
- Increase customer services levels.
- Measure attendance and performance in accordance with site procedures and policies
- To ensure compliance with all legislative and site policies and to ensure all relevant site processes and procedures are adhered to, which would include Health and Safety requisites
- KPI Management
- Process Improvement
- Review and analyze results.
- Collaborate with Business Leads on new projects, initiatives and or other implementations.
- Ensure SOP's are reviewed at minimum every 24 Months
- Collaborate with Functional CCT Dept Leads and support where necessary.
- Share applicable Monthly reports with Management.
- Manage wholistic customer data base by building the best routes for our dedicated and sub-contractor fleet
- Ensure databases of customers, products and routes are continuously updated.
- Ensure Daily/Weekly/Monthly Resource schedules are in place.
- Ensure development and succession plans are in place.
- Ensure all new Subcontractors are on-boarded in DHL's compliant manner.
**Qualifications, Experience & Attributes**:
- Matric
- Relevant professional qualifications
- Degree/ Diploma in Road Transport, Supply Chain Managements
- Experience in Fleet Management
- Ability to handle transport network in near real time.
- Exceptional in-depth knowledge of operations
- Support complex operations - cross docking.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
- Ability to review and analyse results, reports, and findings.
- Ability to function on a strategic level.
- Customer Focus and Problem Solving
- Computer software
- Select, C-Track, Heat, MS Office
- Fixed/dynamic routing experience
- Geocoding on victor maps with full street search
- Analyse and manage distribution resources.
