**Job Advert Summary**:
**Purpose of the position**:
The purpose of the professional nurse role is to coordinate the TB programme activities within the hospitals, as well as down-referrals to primary health care services. This position will also be required to strengthen the management and notification of TB-positive diagnoses in the hospitals, as well as to ensure effective down-referral of TB-positive patients for continuity of care.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree (B. Cur)
- Qualification in community health nursing or primary health care will be an advantage
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in public health care sector coupled with clinical management of TB and HIV
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse
- Sound knowledge on TB/HIV data tools and systems
- Sound leadership and people management skills
- Valid driver’s licence
- Clear criminal record

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Improve quality standards for recording, reporting of TB data in hospitals
- Register patients who are diagnosed with TB in the hospitals
- Coordinate the down-referral of patients diagnosed with TB in the hospitals and follow up
- Supervise and monitor capturing of TB data in the information system
- Collate the data in the TB identification register for the hospital for reporting
- Coordinate TB activities in the hospitals, in close collaboration with hospital management
- Compile quarterly reports for programme director and district TB/HAST manager
- Coordinate the ‘Finding cases actively’, ‘Separating safely and treating’ effectively (FAST) strategy and QI activities in the hospitals
- Work closely with information officers in the hospitals
- Support in-hospital TB and HIV care, as well as infection prevention and control activities
- Promote the provision of treatment for latent TB infection (LTBI) in eligible patients
- Map their feeder clinics and create and maintain a data base
- Participate in district quarterly TB and data review meetings
