Visual Merchandising Specialist: Projects

**KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED**:
- Knowledge of VM best practices and principles, techniques and VM trends as well an excellent grasp of customer behaviour
- Understanding of the basic principles of Finance and budgeting tools
- Excellent comprehension of the marketing strategies, branding, customer behaviour and principles relevant to value retailing, as well as a practical grasp of the South African industry
- Working knowledge of electronic and print communications
- Project Management

- Translate VM specifications into the specific store environments and displays
- Evaluate research, market conditions, competitor data and implement marketing plan alternations as needed.
- Work well under pressure and with tight deadlines, as the work environment is often intense.
- Computer Literacy (Word, Excel, Advanced, PowerPoint)
**EXPERIENCE**:
**Essential**:
- A minimum of 3 years’ Visual Merchandising experience in a role with, with exposure to the budgeting processes.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Project Management capacity within a Retail environment.
- Exposure to Retail processes and methodologies
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Essential**:
- A Grade 12 Certificate/Matric
- A tertiary qualification in Visual Merchandising or equivalent.
**Preferred**:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Project Management / Retail Management.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**1. Research and Development (R&D) of new fixtures and equipment that is not existing in Ackermans stores**:
- Identify R&D needs/ opportunities
- Govern the R&D process, manage the timing of R&D, manage the testing of R&D initiatives
- Provide recommendations to address business needs
- Stakeholder Communication
- Manage the roll-out of R&D elements and feedback post launch
**2. Projects**
Project Management:
Implementation of VM projects related to:
- New or existing products
- Existing fixtures
- New or existing merchandise solutions
**3. TESTS (Merchandising techniques, Product)**
Implementation of VM, SBU, Operations & Company initiated TESTS related to:
- New or existing products
- New or existing merchandising solutions
- Existing fixtures
**4. To manage costs within a budget. VM department budget
