**Psychosocial Support Coordinator - CAPE TOWN**

**Main Purpose of the Job**:Provide psychosocial services required to support the Foundation’s programmes, executing the strategy to deliver on organisational goal and vision.
**Key Performance Areas**
**Development of psychosocial model, methodology and tools.**
**Support the Manager Psychosocial Support in**:
- Researching and developing the organisational framework and model for the provision of psychosocial support
- Researching and developing appropriate policies, methodology and tools to support the framework and model
- Benchmarking the organisation’s framework and practice against sector best practice
- Developing broad-based feedback loop to provide for continuous reflection, review and improvement.
**Deliver psychosocial support to programmes and beneficiaries**
**Support the Manager Psychosocial Support through the**:
- Delivery of psychosocial support, in the form of counselling, to beneficiaries, across programmes, in alignment with approved framework, model, policies and methodology through:
- Structured programmes and workshops
- Planned individual and group interactions and
- Crisis management
- Provision of multi-layered feedback loop aimed at:
- Supporting the beneficiaries, partners, schools and programme staff
- Adherence to framework and policy
- Input into the refining and reviewing of strategy, policy and framework, undertaking assessments of scholars and students to determine psychosocial needs.
Child Safeguarding
**Support the Manager Psychosocial Support in**:
- The development of organisational child safeguarding policies
- Implementation of the organisational child safeguarding policy framework
- Undertaking training of staff
- Investigating the child safeguarding policies at the respective partner schools
- Implementing service delivery frameworks and contracts for respective partner schools supporting child-safeguarding
- Referring cases to an independent body or individual appointed to handle individual cases.
**Partner Selection, interface and management including advocacy**
- Support the Manager Psychosocial Support in the implementation of partner selection, interface and advocacy
- Undertake advocacy at across all programmes on
- Diversity (race, gender, sex, pregnancy, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth, upholding Chapter 2 of the Bill of Rights
- Empowering parents, scholars and students in having a voice.
**Counselling and psychotherapy**
- To provide individual and group counselling and psychotherapy to the beneficiaries
- To provide adequate referral of beneficiaries requiring medication or psychiatric support
- To always adhere to industry standards in relation to confidentiality, protection of private information, accessibility of individual records
- To keep detailed records, track the progress of each individual case, and provide feedback to the Manager of Psychosocial support
- Case manage individual cases and provide the necessary feedback to beneficiaries, parents, relevant staff members and anager of Psychosocial Support.
**Support implementation of Structured Mentoring programme**
Support and collaborate with the Programme Managers in the development and implementation of a structured mentoring programme including:
- Creation of content and structured framework
- Undertaking training of mentors and mentees in same
- Providing ongoing to support to programme teams in the rollout
- Providing psychosocial content as part of the programme.
**REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB**
**Qualifications**
- Post graduate qualification in Social Work
- Hons/Masters in Social Work
- Registered Social Worker with the SACSSP
**Experience**
- 5 years overall relevant experience, of which at least 3 years’ is in providing psychosocial support to children, teenagers or young adults
- Experience with conducting psychosocial group work and sessions, would be an advantage
- South African educational system and context and how to work within it
- Group and individual counselling experience
- Content development for training and skills transfer.
**Skills and Attributes**
- Individual and Group Counselling skills
- Workshop and Training facilitation skills
- Understanding and awareness of complexity of diversity and discrimination across all factors, including but not limited to class, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, culture and religion
- Multi-lingual (Xhosa and Afrikaans) would be an advantage
