Fitter Technician

**Job Purpose**:
To install, maintain, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems in accordance with safety standards and operational requirements. The incumbent will ensure optimal equipment performance and contribute to minimizing downtime through effective preventative and corrective maintenance practices.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.
- Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance tasks.
- Conduct inspections to identify faults, inefficiencies, or safety hazards.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and take corrective actions.
- Replace or repair worn or defective parts and ensure proper system functioning.
- Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
- Adhere to occupational health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform standby duties when required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental and refrigeration gas handling regulations.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- **Trade Test Certificate** as a Fitter / Refrigeration Fitter.
- Minimum of **9 years of relevant experience** in industrial or commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Sound knowledge of ammonia, Freon, and CO₂ systems (where applicable).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams and manuals.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Valid driver’s license (optional, based on job location/requirements).
