Introduction

Our client, a leading group of retirement villages, with head offices based in Randburg is looking for an Internal Auditor for a one-year fixed term contract.

The retirement village group provides life right accommodation, rental units, mid and frail care services to over 2000 residents located at 14 villages and homes in the Gauteng and North-West Provinces.

Duties & Responsibilities
- To work as a one-person independent Head Office functionary on a part time basis to provide independent and objective assurance to the Finance, Audit and Risk Sub Committee of the Board that governance, risk management and internal controls are operating adequately and effectively within the organisation.
- 80 Hours per month / 1/2 time role.
- Be responsible for the full internal audit function, i.e. planning, execution and reporting on all audits for the group, under guidance of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
- Internal controls improvement.
- Training of Bookkeepers when required.
- Continuous professional development and keep abreast with developments in the internal audit fraternity.

Desired Experience & Qualification
- Degree in internal auditing or relevant financial field.
- Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) will be an advantage.
- Must be a member in good standing of the Institute of Internal Auditors in South Africa - IIA(SA).
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in the auditing environment of which 4 years as a Senior Manager within governance, risk, compliance and operations.
- Audit Management / Internal Audit.
- Good understanding of IFRS standards.
