Head of Information Security

**About the** Role**:
The Head of Information Security will be responsible for overseeing the company's cybersecurity strategy and related vendor relationships. You will lead a team of security professionals and ensure that the company's information, people, and infrastructure remain secure and available to meet the needs of the business.

**Key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to**:

- Responsible for all information security, system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Develop and implement the information security strategy and ensure that it aligns with the overall business objectives of the company.
- Develops, plans, and manages the Information Security Program to include policies, procedures, and standards.
- Define the Information Security plan to resolve gaps identified from audits, risk assessments or vulnerability scans.
- Lead and manage a team of information security professionals.
- Manage the various vendor relationships.
- Manage the information security budget and identify cost saving initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans to mitigate potential security threats.
- Oversee the development and implementation of security controls to protect our information assets and systems.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to information security.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both within and outside of the company.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of the information security program.
- Manage and analyze security incidents in real-time and ensure that they are resolved/mitigated in a timely and effective manner.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive incident response plan.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in information security and provide guidance to the organization on best practices.

**Experience and Competencies required**:

- 10+ years of experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of information security principles and best practices, and regulatory requirements related to information security.
- Experience with standards and best practices such as POPIA, GDPR, SOC2 compliance
- Experience managing a team of information security professionals.
- Technically proficient in IT and Information Security controls and concepts.
- Requires working knowledge of ISP's and their operations and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and projects.
- Ability to establish strategic direction for the department and provide a roadmap of initiatives and priorities in support of that vision.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, resourcefulness, creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to operate at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage change within the organization.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

**Education Requirements**:

- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA preferred.
