Preschool Principal

Educare House is a warm and fun-loving preschool & aftercare situated around the corner from Kirstenhof Primary School (KPS) in Kirstenhof. We provide preschool for children aged 4 months - 6 years and Aftercare for children from KPS for Grades R-3. We are looking for a Principal to lead our dedicated team.

Key elements of the role:
**Educational Leadership**:

- Drive educational excellence by supporting, managing and mentoring teachers in implementing best practices in early childhood education
- Foster a love of learning in a play-based, fun, child-centered environment
- Provide hands-on assistance in the classroom and on the playground, leading by example

**Operational and Staff Management**:

- Train, mentor and empower the teachers to create a warm and happy work environment
- Work with the Manager and Director to continually reflect on processes and improve the running of the school
- Ensure that the school remains compliant with regulations

**Community and Parent Engagement**:

- Create and inspire a community around the school including positive and strong relationships with and between staff, learners and parents, as well as with the wider community
- Cultivate a warm, professional and fun-loving environment

**Specifically, we are looking for someone who**:

- Absolutely loves children and the educational environment
- Is warm and fun-loving and enjoys having fun and being silly, dancing and playing with children
- Is a supportive manager and cares about the well-being of those they manage
- Is a team player, always happy to help however needed
- Has a positive, can-do attitude when faced with challenges
- Has strong communication skills; loves building positive, happy relationships and is not scared to have hard conversations
- Cares about producing high quality work and continually looking at how to improve the environment around them and the work that they produce

**Position details**:

- Hours: Monday to Friday, alternating between 07:00-16:00 and 08:00-17:00. This is an on-site job, but flexibility is supported in terms of coming and going
- Leave: 15 days per year
- Salary: dependent on qualifications and experience

**Qualifications and experience required**:

- B.ED or PGCE (Foundation Phase) preferred, ECD NQF Level 5 would be accepted
- 3 years+ teaching experience in preschool and/or Grade R
- 2 years+ in a management role e.g. head of grade
