**Purpose of the job**:
To ensure that the organisation operates within the law, protecting contractual rights and mitigating legal risk.

**Job Objectives**:

- Ensure legal and compliance risks within the organisation and the various business divisions are mitigated to avoid financial and reputational risk.
- Manage the outsourced legal function and litigation to deliver value for money.
- Provide advice and assistance on new company acquisitions to ensure acquisition are lawful and in terms of acceptable governance principles.
- Form, draft and roll out new standard policies and procedures to facilitate awareness and manage compliance.
- To protect the company’s intellectual property in order to maximize the company’s intangible value.

- Relevant qualification
- Admitted Attorney.
- Continuous on the job education

**Experience Requirements**:
**Experience**:

- Minimum of at least 6+ years PQE in an in-house counsel role.
- Extremely sound knowledge of contract law, drafting and reviewing agreements and labour law.

- Business policies, procedures, and processes.
- Subject matter expertise - contract law, POPIA, labour law, consumer protection law, competition law, corporate law.

- Legal advice and assistance, written or oral.
- Commercial assistance (new acquisitions due diligences, post-acquisition integration and legal projects).
- Instituting and defending legal proceedings.
- Managing outsourced legal function (attorneys).
- Policy implementation and maintenance.
- Managing company and subsidiary’s complicated labour matters.
- Management company’s litigation
