Job overview:
My client in the Food processing industry is looking for an Electrician to join their team in Atlantis. The company’s main function is to import and export seafood products from and to various countries worldwide. The main purpose of the position is to carry out efficient preventative and breakdown maintenance of all factory electrical equipment and machinery, ensuring maximum availability and reliability of all assets so that optimum production output is achieved.

**Responsibilities**:

- Diagnosing and rectifying all electrical, mechanical and instrument faults utilizing engineering system and practices to ensure the plant is adequately supported for maximum uptime.
- Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
- Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
- Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools etc.
- Lead installation and dismantling of machinery and equipment according to layout drawings, blueprints and other drawings.
- Installing and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment to be fit for purpose.
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance and ordering of spare parts
- Assist in supervising and coordinating activities assigned to maintenance team to ensure effective service levels and mínimal plant downtime.
- Working independently and with others to solve mechanical and technical problems.
- Assist Maintenance team with general maintenance not necessary trade related.
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines.
- Maintain housekeeping and sanitation of work area and equipment.

Knowledge and Skills:

- Computer literate (Excel, Word & Microsoft).
- Trade Test Certificate: Electrician (Red Seal).
- Mechanically inclined.
- CoC and Wireman’s license will be advantageous.
- Understand blueprints, technical instructions, and electrical drawings.
- Training completed in the safe handling of ammonia will be advantageous.
- Conversant with isolation and lock out procedures and valid driver’s licence

**Experience**:

- At least 3 years relevant work experience as an Electrician within the FMCG/food processing industry.
- Mechanical inclined electrical experience will be advantageous.
- Experience in a leadership role will be advantageous.
- Experience in instrumentation, PLC (S5), AC/DC drives, mechanical
- and electrical fault finding, line control and HMI will be advantageous.
- Exposure in food processing will be advantageous.
- Experience in using industrial hand tools and power tools.
- Knowledge of HACCP, food safety, pest control and SOP’s will be advantageous.
