**Senior Test Team Lead** **Permanent** **Cape Town** Join a large enterprise in a senior Test Team Lead position. You will manage other test leads and their large test teams, while focusing on all digital commerce products and platforms for the group across multiple brands. **Purpose of the Job** - Define, measure, and enforce quality through efficient test planning, coverage, and a traceability through to test closure within a high-risk high reward agile system. - Ensure pre-agreed test schedules with delivery managers are being met. - Ensure a suitable and stable test environment. - Report and manage progress, issues, constraints, dependencies, and resources. - Define and ensure continuous improvement. - Define, measure, and manage each team members output align with the above. **Job Objectives** Manage test planning and analysis - Collaborate with Project Team and Stakeholders. - Coordinate all testing activities during each testing phase. - Determine which tools and utilities work best and how to use them for given situation/project. - Develop, modify, and ensure that software testing plans are executed. - Provide accurate and precise estimates for assigned task duration. - Initiate test planning activities. - Defining test strategy and test plans and review them with stakeholders. - Identify the testing scope required for each release based on the requirements. - Ensure optimal test coverage and improve the test coverage where needed - Identify the testing effort required by calculating the sizing needed for the given release. - Identify the tools to be used for test reporting/management/automation, etc. - Identify when performance and security testing is required. - Estimate the testing resources and time required. - Publish the test plan after discussions with the test team. Manage test design and execution - Analyse test results to ensure existing functionality. - Integrate test suites into the test management system and custom test harnesses. - Propose required functions, tools, or scripts to management for approval. - Select and develop appropriate test automation tools. - Update test execution status following agreed-upon processes. - Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute manual (and automated) test suite where applicable. - Lead and monitor the analysis, design, implementation and execution of the test cases and test procedures. - Ensure proper configuration management of the test ware produced and traceability of the tests to the test basis. - Manage the building of required test environments. - Manage test environments, test devices and technology versions. Manage test completion - Trace test cases and results back to specific quality risks. - Schedule the tests for execution and monitor, measure, control and report on the test progress. - Write and present summary reports on test status for each test execution cycle. Team Management - Propose work assignments to delivery teams for test team members. - Mentor and coach more junior members of the team. - Ensure that testing resources are properly skilled. - Identify skill gaps and plan for training for the test resources. - Plan, monitor, and control all testing activities and tasks of the test team. - Monitor test progress by constantly assessing the work assigned to resources. - Identify any delays in achieving the testing schedule and resolve any issues expediently. - Bridge any gaps and differences between the testing team and management. - Act as a technical mentor and provide guidance to junior testing resources. Technical Test Process Management - Work closely with development and test to review use cases, requirements, workflows and technical specifications. - Work with the Development team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases, Test Stubs and Drivers. - Work with the Release Management team to create and maintain an automated nightly build verification test. Test Lab Management - Ensure the Test Lab assets are in place or planned for. - Liaise with the Test Lab Manager in the event there are new equipment required. - Plan Resource Access to the Lab for required testing. **Requirements**: - Formal software testing training and registration (e.g., ISTQB, ISEB) - essential - JIRA (1-3 yrs.) - Microfocus ALM QC 3-5 yr - Selenium/Test Complete/UFT/QTP/SOAPUI exposure desirable (3-5 yrs.) - Cloud Testing (Azure/AWS) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Experience desirable (3-5 yrs.) - Testing in a Retail / Financial sector/ Ecommerce (3-5 yrs.) - Test Environment Management (3-5 yrs.) - Embedded in the SDLC (regardless of role type) (10+ yrs.) - Understanding the roles and the contribution of each role player in the SDLC (3-5 yrs.) - Leading and motivating a team to achieve complex objectives within a limited timeframe/s (< 5 yrs.) - Worked/Tested complicated Systems with numerous key integrations 5 yrs.) - Expertise in end-to-end testing, user acceptance testing (> 5 yrs.) - Expertis
