The MRC/Wits Agincourt Research Unit is an exceptional health and population research center providing an extensive data resource resulting from years of longitudinal health and socio
- demographic surveillance. It currently nests a number of observational and intervention studies
- all undertaken with an interdisciplinary network of leading international scientists in the Agincourt sub-district in rural north-east South Africa.

As part of an ongoing nested trial, the Unit seeks to appoint a qualified radiographer on a 6 months contract for the Ntshembo project. The project, which undertakes ground-breaking work to address risk for metabolic disease in adolescent girls and young women, involves dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and ultrasound to investigate body composition and abdominal fat.

**Key Performance areas**:

- Responsible for study data collection involving DXA and / or ultrasounds, scan analysis.
- Archiving and backups, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
- Preparation of study reports for researchers.

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**
- Tertiary qualification in radiography and registration with the Health Professions Council of SA as a Radiographer is essential.
- Experience with DXA and ultrasonography.
- A minimum of two to three years’ radiography experience.
- Research experience - prior involvement in research projects - will be an advantage.
- A well-developed work ethic, capacity to work under pressure and after hours are required.
- Advanced computer literacy MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook) will be an advantage.
- Willingness to relocate to the Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga area, essential.
