- Have a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency?

**The Appointee should**:

- Have a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
- Have At least 7 years experience in a related role, of which 3 should have been at a Unit managerial level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
- Have experience within a trackless mining environment and conventional experience.
- Be an assertive goal-orientated self-starter with good interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail.
- Possess sound analytical and decision-making skills.
- Be assertive, creative and solutions orientated.
- Have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Be stress tolerant.
- Have sound people management and business development skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Be declared medically fit to function in the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at a relevant Occupational health centre.

**Advantageous Qualifications**:

- NQF 7 (bachelors degree or Advanced Diploma in Mining Engineering).
- Have undergone a Middle/ Executive Managerial Leadership Programme

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Driving a culture of Safety ownership with a strong emphasis on behaviour based safety.
- Leading the mine operations management team and manage all mining personnel and resources.
- Preparing and implementing operational plans for the mine, and continuously monitor leading and driving the plan to ensure the goals are met.
- Proposing capital expenditure projects when required to expand capacity or improve operations.
- Preparing production and operating budgets, and monitor and report on performance and costs.
- Recognizing and anticipating operational, technical and safety challenges, taking action to prevent or overcome them, and seek continuous improvement.
- Contributing to business planning and company strategy to improve competitiveness, profitability and growth.
