EHS Specialist

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Facilitate and maintain the requirements of the company’s SHE system and Policy
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental laws, including by-laws
- Establish procedures, policies and practices in order to provide and maintain a safe, healthy work environment that is without risk to employees.
- Process all compensation fund claims
- Handle all legal appointments in line with the legislation
- Maintain the emergency response awareness and emergency response plans in order to safeguard the health and safety of the employees
- Maintain the health and safety records according company specifications and the legislation
- Conduct health, safety and environmental audits, report on the findings and follow up on action plans
- Carry out hazard identification and risk assessment in order to minimise impact to the company
- Conduct Safety Gemba Walks in order to continuously look for opportunities to improve workplace safety.
- Conduct SHE training and awareness
- Arrange employee medicals according to company specifications
- Establish and maintain contractor safety files
- Chair the SHE meetings as well as maintain records thereof
- Maintain liaisons with outside organisations and agencies

**Qualification and Experience**
- A Matric Certificate
- A Diploma/Certificate in health and safety management or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role. Experience within automotive supplier environment is preferred
- Sound knowledge of SHE legislation, procedures and best practice
