**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**

**Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate the development of future-state architecture and ensures its effective adoption.
- Advocating and supporting the enterprise's IT strategy, identifying and analysing enterprise business drivers, analysing the current IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, recommends solutions for improvement and develop strategies for aligning IT to the business.
- Act as a trusted technology advisor to business in realising the business strategy for the relevant discipline.
- Elaborate on the high level business needs, determine the architectural fit and create and maintain roadmaps to achieve the business objectives.
- Specific focus on the modernisation of card payments landscape from the context of legacy card systems in the landscape
- Thought leadership on modernisation of the card payments landscape, componentisation of technical capabilities, decomposition of legacy monolithic systems and alignment to enterprise target systems
- Review drivers of change in the environment, identify associated impact on the payments landscape and advise on alignment required.
- Realtime processing enablement of payments, APls, Micro services, Open banking
- Convergence of payments processing, payments services hub concepts
- Conceive a high-level, shared vision and scope of the proposed architecture, allowing it to be communicated to the sponsor and other stakeholders.
- Build out and maintain the strategic roadmap to achieve the future state of the card payments architecture
- Responsible for the end-to-end view across both Capabilities and/or Solution Architecture disciplines, ensuring alignment across relevant domains
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the solution delivery value chain to mature the solution for effective execution.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, Agile teams and SMEs
- Plan and conduct workshops that bridges the gap between the written method and requirements.
- Effectively communicate the architecture and present the solutions at the appropriate forums
- Lead, motivate and direct multifunctional teams to successful implementation towards the desired future state.
- SA and Africa payments industry knowledge, regulatory and compliance wrt card payments, domestic payments and global payments and impacts on payment architectures and design.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
- B degree/ diploma with Information technology or computer science

**Preferred Certifications**
- Recognised certification e.g. TOGAF
- Agile, SAFe certification
- Azure or AWS fundamentals certification

**Minimum Experience Level**
- 10-15 years' experience in technology based solution creation
- 5+ years active experience in the South African/African Payments environment
- 3+ financial services payments capability exposure
- Experience with card acquiring and card issuing technology landscapes

**Advantageous Experience**
- Payment industry trends driving change, digitisation of payments, tokenisation, Open banking, APls Knowledge of ISO20022 protocol
- Awareness of cloud computing fundamentals
- Familiar with SAFe Agile and working with agile teams Knowledge of payments processing platforms Knowledge of card payment processing platforms Working knowledge of Alfabet
