**We are looking to appoint Deputy Dean: Teaching & Learning.**

**Overall Job Purpose**:

- The Deputy Dean: Teaching & Learning (DD:T&L) provides strategic academic leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching practices, effective instructional models, and continuous pedagogical improvement across all campuses. The role consolidates national lecturer development planning, drives the implementation of the T&L strategy, and ensures all efforts are aligned with institutional priorities and Sirius learning pathways.
- This role interfaces directly with the Academic Centre for Excellence (ACE), collaborating on professional development strategy, Sirius rollout, and pedagogical frameworks. While this role does not manage EdTech implementation or content development but integrates those capabilities into broader lecturer development initiatives.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Teaching & Learning Strategy : Planning & Implementation**
- Design, consolidate and monitor national teaching and learning strategy plans; align initiatives with institutional goals, ACE guidance, and Sirius system priorities.
- Ensure consistency of teaching practice, assessment approaches, and student learning experiences across all sites of delivery through implementation of quality-focused Teaching & Learning frameworks.

**Engagement with ACE & Sirius**
- Act as the main interface with ACE and the Sirius team.
- Ensure alignment of development pathways, track progress, and integrate feedback into academic strategies.

**Academic Research & School of Teaching and Learning**
- Support the development of academic communities of practice.
- Promote engagement in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and faculty-led research.

**Curriculum & Assessment Pedagogical Support**
- Provide academic input into curriculum design, teaching models, and assessment practices.
- Use student performance data to guide pedagogical improvement.

**Advisory Influence**
- Advise academic and campus leaders (HoAs, HoSs, T&L Managers) on effective delivery practices and academic improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Managers to ensure implementation of national standards and address localised academic delivery concerns.

**Minimum Educational Requirement**:

- Masters qualification
- Doctoral Degree (NQF Level 10) in a cognate field or PhD preferable.

**Minimum Work Requirement**:

- 5 years Senior academic management or academic leadership experience.
- 5 years experience in Teaching & Learning support roles or development planning.
- Proven experience leading academic teams or strategic projects in a multi-campus or national higher education environment.
- 2 years experience collaborating with national academic support units such as ACE or similar bodies will be advantageous.
