Logistics Planner/controller

My Client an established logistics/distribution company is wishing to appoint a Logistics Planner who will be responsible for the operational resource scheduling, planning, and process tracking in line with both customer and company standards and expectations.

**PLANNING NECESSARY IN THE JOB**:

- Planning is a dynamic process with ever-changing shipment times and order demands.
- Planning involves (on the one hand) the balancing of Import with Export orders within (changing) shipment time-slots and on (the other hand) the deployment of truck resources to maximize efficiency and profits.
- Order planning.
- Operational resource planning and tracking.
- Container yard planning.
- Meetings.
- Workflow planning.
- Plan and or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
- Availability of resources (Operations office personnel, operations personnel, equipment, systems)
- Understand order-demand profile (place, time, quantity, type) vs. resource status (availability, suitability, access, location) to advise and direct
- Understand potential constraints (variability) to advise and direct
- Status reports to advise and direct timely service
- and container -delivery
- Receive/solicit dynamic input from Operations
- and Technical -personnel to advise and direct
- Access to 3rd Party systems (e.g. NAVIS, SkyQ, etc.)
- Ensure accurate and timely systems and document updates (e.g. Order-database, QSA-scheduling, terminal bookings, etc.)
- Determine month-end (periodical) reporting requirements
- PortNet and Client terminal slot time availability
- Vehicle dispatch time (and routes) in meeting estimated time of arrivals
- Sourcing delivery instruction details (ANF)
- Schedule resources to logistics plan
- Manpower assignments
- Container yard planning
- Workflow planning
- PortNet bookings
- Workshop interface
- Confirmation of Client appointments

**DEADLINES IN THE JOB**:

- To attend to customer needs and expectations in and on time.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Extended hours, weekend duty.
- After hours standby to assist with operational matters.

**EDUCATION**
- **Minimum**:Grade 12.
- **Preferred**:Certificate in Operational/Logistics Management.

**LEGAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Valid driver's license.
- Health and Safety certificate in line with legal requirements.

**PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the same or similar position.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Road Transport planning and Containers
- Experience in the supervision of others.
- Computer literate in MS Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Technically minded.
- Basic accounting experience.
- Human resources experience.
- Risk assessment experience.
- Health and Safety experience.

- Road Transport and Container: 3 years (required)
- Logistics Scheduling/Planning: 3 years (preferred)
