Sewing Machine Mechanic

**Job Purpose**

Responsible for conducting sewing machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and performing preventative maintenance.

**Key Performance Indicators**:

- Minimising amount of down-time due to faults and breakdowns
- Maximising productivity through scheduled preventative maintenance
- Knowledge of Equipment and Services

**Key Duties**:

- Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance service of production equipment.
- Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production
- Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Performs technical skills including, but not limited to; mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Complies with all Occupational Health & Safety Rules and Regulations.
- Complies with all the Company’s safety and quality standards.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Performs other related duties as required and or assigned by the Factory Manager
- **Skills & Competencies**
- Matric / NQF 4 or equivalent level of education
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a qualified sewing machine mechanic
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of industrial sewing machines (flat machine, high post, single & double needle, safety stitch, etc.)
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Superior problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with little or no supervision
- Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this function.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function effectively as part of a team and/or in isolation.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R48,60 - R70,00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal 3700: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Sewing Machine Technician: 2 years (required)
