Fixed Income Settlement Officer

**Job Purpose**:
To provide excellent customer service by adhering to the SLA between Treasury Ops and Treasury.

Settlement/confirmation and reconciliation of trades booked occurs timeously and accurately for SSA Cluster.

**Job Background/context**:
The Fixed Income Settlement Officer is an intermediate level position responsible for processing orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to facilitate the clearance, settlement and investigation of client securities, derivatives and loan transactions.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Fixed Income -SA**
- Ensure that the script recon between DCC and Edealer is done daily.
- Ensure that confirmations are sent clients for all client trades on T+1.
- Ensure that Suspense accounts are cleared on a daily basis.
- Ensure that settlements are done timeously on a daily basis.
- Ensure that all trades in Edealer is Acknowledged in the Deal Management Blotter and authorized in Flexcube.
- Ensure that all trades on NUTRON is matched EOD.
- Liaise with clients and or JSE regarding any queries etc.
- Updating and streamlining existing processes to increase efficiency and decrease opportunity for error.
- Always Adhering to company policies and practices.
- Passing of Ad hoc entries received from Product Control Unit (PCU) related to FI bookings.
- Report all Failed trades to Treasury/CGM by 15h00 to book for next working day.
- Margining on Repo’s

**Loans -Cluster**
- Ensuring all instructions received before set cut-off times is processed to completion.
- Raise any credit overrides to branch for CRMS approvals.
- Ensure accurate booking of all instructions.
- Ensure that Orbiflow queues are cleared, and any un-processed items should be raised to line manager with reason for not processing.

**Deposits -Nigeria**
- Ensuring all instructions received before set cut-off times is processed to completion.
- Raise any overrides to branch for RMS approval (*GCIB NG GSG).
- Raise Rate Exceptions to branch for Treasury approval (*GCIB NG Treasury)
- Ensure accurate booking of all instructions.
- Ensure that Orbiflow queues are cleared, and any un-processed items should be raised to line manager with reason for not processing.
- Raise Back Value Approval to Branch if processed the next day.
- Reject in Orbiflow if scanned date is not same as processing date, ask branch to provide Back value approval.

**Fixed Income -Cluster**
- Ensure that all trades in Edealer is Acknowledged in the Deal Management Blotter and authorized in Flexcube.
- Ensure that all Error trades are investigated and relevant maintenance in Flexcube is updated to re-transmit those trades.
- Ensure that Suspense accounts are cleared daily.
- Passing of Ad hoc entries received from PCU related to FI bookings.
- Ensuring that proper record retention is maintained for the documentation received from the cluster.

**Derivatives**
- Ensure that settlement of Derivative cash flows on settlement date via OASYS Web is released before cut-off times.
- Ensure settlement of Option Premiums
- Resolve queries from Treasury, Operations Control, Product Control, and counterparties
- Ensure that possible daily proof differences are resolved swiftly.
- Passing of Ad hoc entries received from PCU related to Derivatives.
- Process Margining Payments and Receipts

**Structured Loans**:

- Ensure all loan documentation is received prior to disbursement of funds
- Ensure all credit lines and approvals are in place
- Maintain the loan repayment and interest schedules
- Update rates monthly/quarterly/semi-annually or annually as per loan schedule

**Knowledge/Experience**:

- 2-3 years of relevant experience in Bond Settlement and Treasury Operations environments
- Qualified JSE Bond Settlement Officer
- Fundamental understanding of Treasury products, accounting, and regulatory policies
- Proven ability to perform various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent people skills dealing with multi-cultural and diverse teams based on a number of locations around the world.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- JSE Bond Settlement Exam
