**Role summary**:
We're seeking a talented mid-weight art director with a focus on retail advertising to join our creative team in Cape Town. You'll be working on one of our national retail clients, bringing promotional excitement and breakthrough designs to life.
**Key responsibilities**:
Develop visually compelling concepts from the initial brief to the final artwork.
Create eye-catching designs for retail promotions and campaigns.
Collaborate with the creative team to deliver innovative advertising solutions.
Manage multiple projects with quick turnarounds and high work volumes.
**Qualifications and skills**:
Proven experience as an art director in retail advertising.
Strong portfolio showcasing retail-focused work.
Exceptional layout and design skills.
Proficiency in industry-standard design software.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Self-starter mentality with a keen eye for detail.
Conceptual thinking and problem-solving abilities.
**Job scope includes but is not limited to**:
**Collaborative campaign development**: Work closely within a team under the guidance of a group head and creative director to conceptualise and execute innovative campaigns based on client and internal briefs.
**Creative presentations**: Present creative work imaginatively and confidently to clients and senior creatives, ensuring alignment with client objectives and creative vision.
**Design and conceptualisation**: Demonstrate strong skills in both design and conceptualisation, contributing to the development of unique and impactful advertising solutions.
**High standards of execution**: Maintain exceptionally high standards for execution and attention to detail, ensuring all work meets the agency's quality benchmarks.
**Team collaboration**: Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments, fostering open communication and a cooperative work environment.
**Positive attitude**: Maintain a positive and resilient attitude, especially during challenging projects and tight deadlines, contributing to a supportive and productive team atmosphere.
**Minimum relevant experience and skills/attributes required**:
Relevant tertiary qualification.
At least two years’ experience as an art director in a large/integrated advertising agency.
At least two years’ previous experience in a high-volume environment.
Demonstrated experience with social media design across various social media platforms.
Strong skills in design software such as InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator (non-negotiable).
Experience in digital and experiential advertising advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills; a team player, persuasive negotiator, positive and innovative thinker.
Maintain high standards for execution and attention to detail.
Highly motivated and a high level of initiative; ability to work independently, in support of the agency’s creative goals and the client’s business objectives.
