- Contribute to development of the medium and long term SHERQ strategy, as it pertains to Occupational Health, Risk and Safety.
- Define Occupational Health, Risk & Safety standards and process requirements.
- Conduct regular internal and external bench-marking exercises to identify best practices.
- Ensure best practices and minimum standards/processes are easily accessible and regularly updated on Group platforms (catering for HO and Country operations).
- Ensure the integration of Occupational Health, Risk, and Safety into SHERQ management systems.
- Provide inputs into processes, interventions and programmes to determine and address business risk across Group (i.e. Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Prevention, Emergency Planning).
- Investigate new technologies to improve the Groups Health, Risk and Safety.
- Create and maintain internal and external communication structures for issue resolution related to Occupational Health, Risk and Safety.
- Engage with external stakeholders on issues associated with Health, Risk and Safety and ensure alignment of internal processes with legislation.
- Promote and adhere to Group SHERQ procedure, policy and guidelines.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Bachelors’ degree in Occupational Health and Safety/Environment/Quality/Occupational Hygiene or equivalent in Engineering or scientific fields.
- Must have industry experience from Manufacturing, Petroleum or Mining.
- Specific Safety qualification will be advantageous, e.g. SAMTRAC.
- Min 10+ years’ experience as an HOD/HOS for SHERQ/Risk Management.
- Experienced in designing and rolling out SHERQ policies, procedures and minimum standards, and championing implementation in multiple countries within Africa.
- Demonstrated experience in providing best practice SHERQ expertise and guidance.
- Extensive experience of operating in SHERQ across Africa.
- Proven experience in health, risk and/or safety systems requirements in African Markets.
- Strong ability to achieve alignment and ensure effective implementation of the SHERQ agenda.
- Strategic and critical thinker, with proven track record in providing input to SHERQ strategy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to verbalise ideas easily and build strong relationships.
- Proven track record in coaching, guiding and developing others.
- Credibility and confidence to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work well within a team and contribute to harmonious team dynamics.
- Sound analytical skills.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
