Production Manager

**OVERVIEW**:
To oversee the production of products as per company requirements

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
- Utilise knowledge and skills to oversee and have complete control of the production process
- Utilise knowledge and skills to manage respective departments to ensure that production orders are completed within the prescribed time frame as determined by the Factory Manager
- Utilise knowledge and skills to ensure that all products are within specification as determined by the Technical Manager and Factory Manager
- Report any deviations from specification to Factory Manager immediately
- Utilise knowledge and skills and account for all departments under current span of control
- Manage subordinates and assign tasks to ensure that the company production process is effective
- Utilise knowledge and skills to ensure that raw materials used are within specification as determined by the Factory Manager
- Utilise knowledge and skills to ensure that the production process is cost effective by keeping wastage to a minimum and keeping overtime hours to a minimum in consultation with the Factory Manager
- Ensure that departments (under span of control) are optimally staffed and fill vacant positions in the most effective and efficient manner as advised by the company’s Recruitment & Selection policy in conjunction with the Human Resources department
- Work closely with the Quality Control Manager and Quality Control department to ensure that the quality of products meets the company quality standards
- Work closely with the Stores Department to ensure that all required stock is obtained for the production process to run effectively and efficiently
- Fully understand and implement the company’s Food Safety policy and work in conjunction with the Food Safety & Cleaning Manager to ensure that high levels of food safety are upheld in the production process
- Fully understand and implement the company’s hygiene and housekeeping policy throughout all departments
- Ensure the correct packaging of products in conjunction with the Packaging Manager
- Ensure that subordinates employ safe methods when working with machinery and report non-performing / malfunctioning machinery through the correct processes in consultation with the Maintenance Manager and Factory Manager
- Ensure that all documentation (e.g., yields and shortages) is completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as required by the Factory Manager
- Attend Factory Manager chaired meetings and hold regular meetings with subordinates to set objectives and ensure that the most effective and efficient production process is implemented within the company
- Identify training needs for subordinates and follow proper company procedure for training implementation
- Monitor and review performance of all subordinates in consultation with the Factory Manager
- Utilise knowledge and skills to play an active role in product development in consultation with the Technical Manager and Factory Manager
- Effectively manage and control key production factors such as CCTV, generators, freezers, water supply, paraffin, gas and diesel
- Work closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure that factory floor maintenance requirements are dealt with swiftly and effectively
- Interact and coordinate with the Dispatch and Transport Departments to ensure that Vector deliveries are running smoothly
- Effectively interact with key stakeholders throughout the company, e.g., the OHS Manager, Senior Managers, etc.
- Assume responsibility for factory in the absence of other Production Managers
- Assume accountability for and render support to ‘Production Managers’

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Matric
- Dip/Btech Production Management/ Operation or related
- Computer Literate Microsoft Office
- Minimum of 5 years in the baking/manufacturing industry
- Drivers license Own Car
