**ABOUT**

Intercare Irene Day Hospital (Pty) Ltd situated in Centurion, Pretoria seeks to recruit a Dental Theatre Coordinator.

The purpose of the position is to assist in surgical procedures by coordinating all activities relating to the dental theatre, including booking of theatre, authorisations, setting up the room before the operation and assisting the surgeon during surgery.

**CRITICAL OUTPUTS**
- Prepares theatre for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols
- Helps surgeon manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory
- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments; positioning instruments for surgeon’s access; suctioning; passing instruments
- Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
- Ensure that all detail as required are collected with regards to theatre cases prior to surgery to ensure adequate clinical preparation
- Ensure that the disposal of medical waste, human tissue and medicine is in accordance to OHS Regulations
- Schedule and coordinate all dental lists and assist with booking of emergency dental surgeries
- Obtaining patient admission documents & coordinate pre admission
- Ensure smooth & efficient patient flow
- Assisting with obtaining patient authorization for surgery if required
- Arranging an Anaesthetist if required

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Registration with HPCSA as a Dental Assistant
- Grade 12/Matric
- At least 3 years’ experience within a theatre environment essential
- Able to work flexi-time according to unit requirements
- Knowledge of dental assistant activities within scope of practice
- Computer proficiency in MS Office 365
