**Purpose of the Job**:
Our Engineering teams have a need for Student Engineers to assist with projects (temporary Dec/Jan/Feb). The purpose of the Co-Op Student in the Value Engineering Department is to provide support to ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at optimizing the value of products, processes, and systems within the organization. This role is designed for students to gain practical experience in value engineering principles and methodologies, while also contributing to departmental goals and assisting in cost reduction efforts.
**Job Objectives**:
Adhere to the guidelines and procedures set by the Value Engineering Department in all tasks performed.
Align to project objectives by supporting value engineering initiatives and ensuring quality outputs.
Attend to assigned project tasks promptly, ensuring adherence to timelines and standards.
Avoid common errors by carefully following instructions and seeking guidance as needed.
Comply with safety and regulatory requirements during project work.
Conduct work that involves gathering information on costs, performance, and operational efficiencies.
Escalate any challenges or uncertainties to team members or supervisors to seek clarification or assistance.
Execute basic data processing tasks and assist in the preparation of project documentation.
Perform routine checks and analyses on project data to support value engineering objectives.
Plan (own work) efficiently to meet deadlines while balancing various responsibilities.
Produce summaries of findings from research and analyses to support project proposals.
Provide assistance to team members on various value engineering projects as needed.
Report on the status of assigned tasks during team meetings to keep supervisors informed.
Service departmental needs through effective collaboration with team members.
Support the Value Engineering Department by participating in brainstorming sessions and contributing ideas.
Utilise available tools and software for data analysis and project management tasks.
Work with other team members to develop improved methodologies and enhance project outcomes.
Process data and information accurately to facilitate informed decision-making within the department.
**Qualifications**:
Grade 12 certificate
Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
**Experience**:
+1 year exposure or coursework in value engineering concepts.
**Knowledge and Skills**:
Basic knowledge of engineering software and proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration within a team.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Good organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively.
Positive attitude and a proactive approach to challenges and problem-solving.
