A well-established organisation is looking for a Payroll Manager.
To provide an efficient management, data processing and administration service to the Payroll department in order to ensure accurate payroll records of 4000 employees as well as to contribute to the timeous and accurate payment of salaries to all staff (multiple payrolls) in line with company processes and procedures and in line with relevant legislation.
Tasks And Activities:
- Manages all aspects of the payroll department.
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations and changes to pay rates.
- Ensures compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- EFT transfers and costing to be generated through payroll.
- Payroll Reconciliations of General Ledger, Bank Accounts and Salary Control Accounts, and resolution of discrepancies
- Ensure maternity leave and changes are allocated correctly.
- Provident Fund, Medical Aid and UIF functions are performed and that all relevant paperwork are kept up to date
- Ensure that monthly and yearly PAYE, IRP5’s and IT3A’s deadlines are met.
- Audit monthly payroll
- Maintain in-depth technical and professional knowledge of the payroll function and legislation.
- Co-ordinate, schedule and review payroll activities; correspond with employees regarding payroll activities and procedures.
- Monitor compliance of legislative changes; recommend procedural changes as necessary; and design and implement the use of payroll-related forms.
- Create guidelines on payroll-related processes, including timekeeping procedures, ESS and Infoslips.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Strong working knowledge of Sage VIP and ESS
Good all-round computer skills
**Qualifications and Experience**
Matric Certificate
Tertiary degree or Diploma in Accounting or related field required
Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. 10 to 15 years’ payroll experience
Minimum 8 years in payroll management roll
Current knowledge or payroll procedures and related laws
A keen eye for detail and an analytical mind
Outstanding communication skills (written and oral)
Ability to communicate sensitive information in a thoughtful manner
Able to perform and deliver excellent results under high pressure
Manage stakeholder relationships
Proficient with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Accounting exposure
Certification on Sage VIP Premier/Sage 300 People and ESS and working knowledge
Salary is market related.
