Requirements
- An appropriate professional qualification within Parks and

Recreation Management, Sport Management, Horticulture, Sport

and Recreation Management, Public Management, or similar field
- Extensive managerial and functional experience at a senior level

preferably within the Parks and Recreation environment with a

proven track record demonstrating the ability to manage a large

and diverse team of professionals in the Parks and Recreation

environment
- Sound knowledge of legislation applicable to Local Government
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills and ability to

interface at a political level
- Driver’s licence and own vehicle.

Key Performance Areas
- Provide strategic direction to recreational programme planning and

delivery and the co-ordination of programmes across the

Department
- Lead and direct the delivery of strategy and services with regard to

amenities and facilities in line with the SDBIP, IDP and other

programmes
- Ensure that an effective and on-going cemetery function is

delivered to the citizens of Cape Town
- Manage horticultural services and ecological conservation
- Strategically manage Recreation and Parks services to ensure

optimal and sustainable utilisation of City resources
- Lead, direct and oversee financial management, human resources,

functional administration and communication within the department.
