**Rendering of a social work service with regard to the care, support, protection and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities through the relevant departmental programmes. Attend to any other matters that could result in, or stem from, social instability in any form.**

**This would include the following actions**:

- Provide psychosocial support: containment, counselling including trauma counselling to clients, strengthen family support systems, offer guidance and support to infected and affected beneficiaries (individuals, families, groups and communities)
- Process intake and conduct assessments aimed to identify conditions in individuals and families then identify relevant interventions.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the recommended interventions, report on progress and assist in identifying further/amended interventions to address the identified conditions.
- Implement the various social work methods of intervention in line with client’s matter encountered.
- Implement referral mechanisms that will include follow-up and escalation of cases as well as provision of feedback to affected individuals.
- Develop a care plan for shelter clients.
- Follow up on cases and referred by SAWs.
- Ensure an efficient operation of satellite offices.
- Attendance of weekly supervision with Social Work Supervisor where cases and self-development will be discussed.
- Supervise the Social Auxiliary Workers to ensure an effective service delivery to the beneficiaries and ensure the coordinators’ and caregivers’ supervision through SAWs.
- Assist with tasks/case as delegated by Social Work Supervisor.
- Transport clients and support them while receiving services from other service providers.
- Report to supervisor on the work challenges and progress encountered.
- Possess an interpreter’s role when necessary.
- Consistently reflect the values and principles contained in the Bill of Rights and the social work profession’s Code of Ethics in service delivery as a social auxiliary worker.
- Perform duties within the guidelines of Social Work Practices as stipulated by the Social Work Amendment Act 102 of 1998 and as governed by the council of Social Service Professions.

**Keep abreast with new developments in the social work and social services field. This would, inter alia, entail the following**:

- Read publications in order to ensure that knowledge is taken of new developments.
- Monitor and study the social services legal and policy framework continuously.
- Attend meetings, workshops, conferences and any other relevant developmental activities to take knowledge of the latest developments in the relevant field.
- Discuss self-development plans and key performance indicators with the supervisor.
- Ensure that a resource book/list of services and organisations is updated and accessible when required.
- Liaison and strengthen relationships with local stakeholders to ensure accessibility of required services for shelter and out based clients (dept. of Health, Education, Home affairs, Social Development, etc.)

**Perform administrative functions as required of the job.**
- Keep an appropriate and efficient filing system.
- Take minutes for all the meetings that are attended and submit to the supervisor.
- To submit a daily planner and productivity report on a daily basis to supervisor.
- Submit reports (board reports, six monthly and annual reports) to supervisor within allocated time frame.
- Produce and maintain records of social work interventions, processes and outcomes.
- Submission of stats to supervisor after it has been checked and amended.
- **Group and community work**
- Discuss the plans and arrangements regarding the group activities with the supervisor.
- Facilitate therapeutic and life skills groups designed to meet the needs of the clients.
- Planning of school holidays programme (therapeutic groups and activities) for OVCs children.
- Conduct workshops and awareness campaigns on issues of GBV within the community of Greater Alberton and surrounding areas.
- Submit proposals for approval prior to conducting any campaign or event.

**Team work**
- In order to achieve our organisational plans and goals you will have to engage in all departmental programs (HIV, VEP, HBC and Fundraising).
- You are expected to assist where necessary in other areas within the organisation from time to time
