**Job Purpose**:
COMMUNITY MOBILISERS

Responsible for the overall implementation of Community Development programmes/projects.

SENIOR COMMUNITY MOBILISER
Job Purpose:
Responsible for initiation and facilitation of community developmental programmes and promotion
of public participation to ensure improved service delivery, coordination of ward based programmes
and activities as well as research.

**Key Responsibility Areas**:
Implements Community Development Programmes.
Implements activities of the different Forums related to Community Development Programmes
or Projects within the eThekwini Municipal area.
Provides input into the development of Community Development Policy for the Municipality.
Provides input during the establishment of Community Development Programmes or Projects
at local level by facilitating the establishment process of the development programmes or
projects..
Implements identified projects from business plan.
Provides reports on the performance of programmes or projects in order for the Regional Coordinator
to monitor progress.
Updating the Regional Co-ordinator in terms of agreed plans.

Willingness to work after hours and over the weekend.

SENIOR COMMUNITY MOBILISER

Determining the needs of communities and communicate these needs to the relevant
government structures.
Initiating and facilitating systems of information dissemination between communities, civil
society structures and government.
Participate and facilitating the implementation and monitoring of grants in Aid, community
Gardens, Soup kitchen, Youth and Gender, Community Based Planning, Community Based
Structures, Vulnerable Groups, Masakhane and Traditional Leadership.
Compiling reports and documents pertaining to action taken and outcomes.
Collaborating with government departments and municipal units who are responsible for the
implementation of projects and programmes at local sphere of government.
Providing capacity building and support to communities and their development structures.

Flexibility to work after hours and weekends.
A through knowledge of the dynamics, culture, and language of the target community.
Facilitation skills to facilitate public participation in policy making and service delivery.
Ability to network efficiently and effectively.
Basic computer literacy.

**Essential Requirements**:
Matric/Grade 12.
Valid motor vehicle drivers license.
12 Months relevant experience.

SENIOR COMMUNITY MOBILISER

Relevant 3-years tertiary qualification (Community Development Studies, Public
Administration).
Valid motor vehicle drivers license.
3 years relevant experience in the public sector environment.
Computer Literacy.

**Preferred Requirements**:
Matric/Grade 12 plus relevant certificate accredited by SAQA.
18 Months experience working with diverse groups and active involvement in community
initiatives.

SENIOR COMMUNITY MOBILISER

Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Community Development or Public Administration or Public
Management or Social Development.
4 Years relevant experience.
