Senior Terminal Operator

**The Role**:

As a Senior Terminal Operator, you are responsible in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of bulk fuel products at the terminal. You will be the terminal’s representative after hours and weekends to ensure operations continuity.

**What’s the role?**

Your main role as a Senior Terminal Operator is to operate at the correct standards in a team that provides receipt, storage and loading operations and takes care of calling-out maintenance and supply of product under existing agreements.

Your further responsibilities include:

- Ensure safe receipt of the right product into the correct tank.
- Comply and enforce HSSE standards and procedures including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements to all staff and contractors on site.
- Responsible for Terminal site inductions (contractors and visitors).
- Lead terminal operations and HSSE meetings.
- Take corrective action when drivers, contractors, crews or personnel do not obey rules.
- Steer and control the product receipt, storage and loading operations at the terminal.
Execute tank dipping, water draining (TOM Requirements).
- Full implementation of permit to work system / confined space entry, control of electrostatic hazards and working at heights.
- Ensure safe handling and accurate additive dosing per product, product testing and quality control.
- Execute fire-fighting, emergency response/oil spill management at skill level.
- Ensure availability of equipment to target requirement levels. Act as trouble-shooter when systems fail.
- Remain in constant communication with the Terminal Manager / Terminal Operation Supervisor - to be able to stop operations in case of emergency.
- Assist Terminal Operation Supervisor with incident and stock losses/gains investigation by providing relevant data.
- Bulk loading gantry focal point to assist maximizes the gantry utilization and manages downtime.
- Work with Security Manager to Operate CCTV system to investigate eg spills under the gantry.
- DGAME (Distribution Global Asset Maintenance Excellence) - manage the Terminal maintenance execution and breakdowns, ensure accurate history/time confirmation captured and work-orders are closed on time and properly on the system.
- Check and issue truck Safe Loading Pass.
- Compile daily/monthly KPI for reporting purposes.
**What we need from you?**

We’re keen to hear from professionals who have at least 2-5 years of working experience in a technical background.

Other requirements needed:

- Minimum Undergraduate Qualification in Business Logistics, Emergency response or Operation qualification.
- Experience in terminal operations, product handling and control.
- Knowledgeable in depot operations and asset management.
- Computer and GSAP System, D-Game
- Mechanical aptitude.
- HSSE - FIM / Investigations and reporting.
- Good communication skills and stakeholder management.
- Team leader and people’s management skills.
- FLBM Assessed.
- TOIR Champion.
- PTW - Lead Permit Issuer.
- Authorised Gas Tester.
- SOT accredited - NQF- level 2 Chemical Operations.
