**Au Pair for Autistic Boy - Bantry Bay, Cape Town**

We are seeking a confident, playful and energetic live-out au pair to join a family and support a wonderful 4-year-old boy with autism and high support needs.

**Main Purpose of The Job**:
To be a “helping hand” for his unique and specific support needs, creating child-specific, play-based learning opportunities, and giving him the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion in neurodiversity and being a secure, long-term source of support are of the utmost importance.

**Job Objectives**
- Becoming a core member of the multi-disciplinary team to support their individual needs if and when needed.
- Providing companionship and emotional support for them at home.
- Support and scaffolding for their regulation needs (lessening any uncertainty and anxiety).
- To carry out duties such as individualised lesson planning, taking him on outings, and appointments, facilitating development through play, and providing toileting support.
- Supporting the understanding of his individual difference sensory profile, and executive functioning (i.e. assisting with creating a routine with the use of visual aids).

**General Requirements**:

- A valid driver’s license - Essential.
- Fluent in English
- Essential.

**Job-Related Work Experience**:

- Previous experience working with younger children under 5 years old - Essential.
- Previous experience in teaching/tutoring - Essential.
- Previous experience in a role supporting neurodivergent children - Essential.

**Job-Related Knowledge**:

- Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) - Essential.
- Familiarity with low arousal, child-led, neuro-affirming approach - Essential.
- Familiarity and knowledge of demand avoidance in children - Essential.
- Familiarity and knowledge of attentional difficulties and hyperactivity in children - Essential.

**Job-Related Skills**:

- Able to assist with planning and implementing activities with him and assist with school projects using creative and flexible approaches to teaching and learning according to his learning profile.
- Ability to minimise stress and anxiety by utilising a low arousal approach - Essential.
- Strong verbal communication skills with children and parents - Essential.
- Organisational skills, i.e., ability to implement structure, strong time management imperative - Essential.
- Social, play and life skills - Essential.
- Relationship building skills - Essential.

**Benefits**:

**Hours**:

- Monday to Friday: 07:00 to 12:00

**Salary**:

- R9 000 - R12 000 per month (depending on previous experience and qualifications)
