Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Software Tester will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through a combination of manual and automated testing approaches.

Responsibilities:

1. Automated Testing:
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Cypress and Cucumber.
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand requirements and create comprehensive test plans.
• Execute automated tests and analyse results to identify and report software defects.
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in automated testing.
2. Manual Testing:
• Perform thorough manual testing of software applications, including functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
• Create and execute detailed test cases and test scenarios.
• Conduct usability testing to ensure a positive user experience.
• Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing.
• Document and report bugs with clear, reproducible steps.
• Verify bug fixes and perform retesting.
3. General:
• Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the development team to improve overall software quality.
• Assist in creating and maintaining test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
• Mentor junior testers and share knowledge within the team.

Job Requirements

Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years proven experience as a Software Tester, with a focus on both manual and automated testing.
• Strong proficiency in Cypress and Cucumber frameworks for automated testing.
• Excellent manual testing skills with attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and best practices.
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Understanding of Agile development processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Qualification:
• Grade 12 (Matric) + Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Software Testing or similar.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent will be advantageous.
