Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and manage the performance and discipline of dispatch staff and drivers.
- Allocate tasks effectively and monitor productivity to ensure operational targets are achieved.
- Coordinate delivery schedules and routes, ensuring orders are dispatched on time.
- Plan dispatch activities in line with production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Prioritise urgent orders and manage competing delivery deadlines.
- Ensure the safe handling, loading and transportation of fragile materials, including glass and aluminium profiles.
- Verify purchase orders, delivery notes and dispatch documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Confirm that the correct products, quantities and specifications are delivered to the correct customers.
- Liaise with production teams, drivers, customers and management to coordinate dispatch activities.
- Resolve delivery delays, loading issues, damaged goods and customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions to minimise delays and improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records and use Microsoft Excel to track deliveries and operational performance.
- Ensure the dispatch area remains organised, safe and productive. Minimum Requirements
- Previous experience in dispatch supervision, logistics, warehouse operations or a similar role.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of dispatch staff and drivers.
- Strong planning, scheduling, routing and organisational skills.
- Experience with dispatch processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of purchase orders, delivery notes and dispatch documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on order accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Physically capable of working in an operational dispatch environment. Advantageous Experience
- Experience in the glass, aluminium or building materials industry.
- Knowledge of the safe handling and transportation of fragile materials and long aluminium profiles.
- Familiarity with logistics, inventory or warehouse management systems.
