- Company Scope: The group engages in non-banking financial services, encompassing financial services providers, a retirement fund administrator, a collective investment scheme management company, a linked long-term insurer, and a treasury outsource company. Key Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
The candidate must hold an LLB degree and be admitted as an attorney of the High Court.

Experience:
The role requires at least 15 years of post-qualification legal experience, with a minimum of 12 years spent as a legal advisor within non-banking financial services or as a practising attorney specializing in the sector. Prior experience managing a team is considered an advantage.
- Technical Competency: Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Adobe is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Support: The appointee will provide legal support across various group companies and business units, including wealth management, asset management, collective investment schemes, linked long-term insurance, treasury solutions, and marketing.
- Compliance & Governance: The candidate will support the Compliance department, provide proactive advice on legal developments, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Contracts & Client Documentation: Responsibilities include drafting and vetting commercial and financial services contracts, as well as client documentation and correspondence.
- New Business Ventures: The successful applicant will advise on legal considerations for new business ventures and assist with implementation.
- Representation & Negotiation: The role involves representing group companies in contractual negotiations with external suppliers and representing the organization at industry bodies such as ASISA, including contributing to regulatory submissions.
- Team Management: The candidate will be responsible for managing the legal team. Key Competencies
- Expertise in non-banking financial services law and general commercial law.
- Strong contract drafting, writing, and negotiation skills.
- High level of accountability, business insight, problem-solving ability, and ethical behavior.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and lead a small team with a hands-on approach.
