Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled data scientist to lead our work on supporting government-wide digital transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating and managing research projects related to digital transformation, collaborating with government agencies to develop research proposals, securing approvals, conducting quantitative research and data analysis, and publishing findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

Additional responsibilities include contributing to the School's teaching offerings in data science and digital transformation by developing and delivering training modules, mentoring and supervising postgraduate students, and providing academic guidance. The incumbent will also coordinate project activities to ensure timely and successful completion, working closely with the project lead, funders, partners, other researchers and postgraduate students.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

Applicants must possess a PhD in data science, computer science, information technology, statistics, mathematics, applied mathematics, or a related field. Proven experience in providing policy advice to government entities and developing digital tool prototypes for policy advice is essential. The successful candidate will have published research in recognised, peer-reviewed journals as an author or co-author and possess exceptional quantitative research skills and proficiency in data science tools, including Python.
