Operations Specialist Job Description

Hire Resolve's client is seeking an experienced Operations Specialist to join their IT department in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer information systems and networking development and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting analyses on internal IT infrastructure and information systems efficiency and integration
  • Providing reports to management on IT infrastructure and information systems development, implementation, and progress
  • Collaborating with development teams and departments, as well as incorporating user feedback
  • Ensuring IT infrastructure and information systems innovation and implementation
  • Maintaining, installing, and administering database infrastructure
  • Identifying, investigating, proposing/recommending, installing any IT support or reporting software
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, management information systems, or similar
  • At least 5 years' experience working and maintaining, installing, customising, and optimising databases (SQL, MySQL, Oracle)
  • Knowledge of database structure languages, such as SQL or SQL/PSM
  • Full understanding of the IT SDLC
  • At least 3 years' experience working and maintaining, installing, customising, and optimising Linux servers
  • Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure and information systems innovation and integration
  • Knowledge of database design and theories
  • Ability to work with data architects and other IT specialists to set up, maintain, and monitor data networks
  • Experience with server installation and maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose faults, incidents, and problems, and implement required changes
  • Ensuring optimal hardware and software functionality, as well as network security
  • Familiarity with various operational management software and tools
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
