Key Responsibilities:

The South African Bureau of Standards is seeking a Technical Supervisor to join our laboratory services division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing supervision and ensuring that operational plans and processes are implemented for both in-house and outsourced work and priorities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant scientific field and 2 years' supervisory experience. You will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and empower your team to achieve exceptional results.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing laboratory-specific operational plans within the Laboratory Services division.
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress against operational objectives.
  • Ensuring the implementation and utilisation of laboratory information management systems.
  • Supervising operations effectively to deliver services within timelines and prescribed quality through effective resource management.
  • Driving an operational plan for the laboratory in line with the overall divisional operational strategy.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the drive of continuous improvement of testing activities, using insights gained through business information to compile reports and metrics, and providing timely operational information to guide management decisions.
