The Institute for Futures Research (IFR) is a leading centre of excellence in futures research, offering commissioned research products and futures-based strategic advisory services to clients across South Africa and abroad.

As a Chief Foresight Strategist, you will play a key role in shaping our research agenda and developing innovative approaches to support business, government, and societal development in Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducting comprehensive futures research to inform business strategy and policy decisions
  • Designing and implementing bespoke research projects to meet client needs
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners
  • Managing a team of research associates to ensure high-quality outputs
  • Making presentations and facilitating futures thinking sessions to drive strategic conversations
  • Contributing to the development of IFR publications and thought leadership pieces
Requirements
  • Masters degree in futures studies or a related field
  • At least three years of experience in consulting, advisory, or research environments
  • Proven track record of publications in reputable domains
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Experience of leading research projects and teams
  • International consulting experience and exposure to work in Africa
