Mechanical Department Manager

The Mechanical Department Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the mechanical department to achieve its goals and objectives. The role involves managing a team of employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and quality standards, and coordinating with other departments to achieve overall company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Confer with management and subordinates to resolve worker problems and enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
- Confer with other managers and supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
- Inspect, implement, and review projects to monitor compliance with progress claims, project programs, materials procurement, cost tracking, timekeeping of staff, project/SHE file updates, and updating and maintaining company and project programs.
- Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the production and maintenance of structures, facilities, equipment, and systems.
- Carry out stock orders, work packs, design, pricing, and order processing of various projects, NCRs, and internal auditing, research, and development of new innovative ways to improve products, estimating duties, CNC training and assistance, company designs, and provide preliminary designs and cost estimates for materials and services.
- Design schematic drawings utilizing software such as CAD, such as Inventor and Lantek.
- Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
- Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies affecting projects and or works.
- Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training, as well as directing and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in the production and construction works, such as artisans, semi-skilled assistants, etc.
- Supervise and manage the work of staff, or subcontractors to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems and ensuring company policies are adhered to as well as resolving customer complaints and answering customers' questions regarding policies and procedures.
- Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions, and interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers, as well as carrying out site repairs.
- Observe work and monitor to ensure that works conform to production and construction standards.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production/construction sequences to meet production/construction goals.
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, schedules, and other records and reports to determine work requirements and to evaluate current production/construction estimates and outputs.
- Pro-active hands-on transfer of skill and training of employees in job duties and company policies as directed by the company or arrange for training to be provided.
- Carry out any physical work (on the tools) required and or to assist employees in meeting target deadlines, project timeframes, and or staff shortages.
- Implementation, maintenance, and review of mechanical department quality control. Completion of paperwork, carrying out inspections, and review of others' work to ensure that manufactured accordingly to company standards.
- Direct, assist, and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical and mechanical works.
- Inspect electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Maintain knowledge of your industry and ensure constant growth of such knowledge as well as sharing such knowledge with others for the benefit and efficiency of the company.
- Perform business management duties such as ensuring all relevant paperwork is up-to-date, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and ordering supplies and equipment, etc.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair various works.
- Provide assistance during emergencies when required (e.g., being on standby 24/7 and to assist whether afterhours and or on weekends).
- Confer and enforce budget constraints, material estimating, and controlling.
- Meeting target deadlines and carry out all tasks instructed competently.
- Entertaining of clients when required and being a link as a customer liaison by marketing of all services rendered by the Company.
- Maintenance checks, cleaning, and upkeep of vehicles and tools as well as cleaning and maintaining work areas.
