Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Legacy and Product Management division of OMiX Savings & Income for a seasoned professional who is enthusiastic about overseeing a varied portfolio of retail solutions designed to fulfill customer needs, align with Old Mutual's strategic goals, and adhere to the evolving regulatory landscape.

Given the substantial transformations occurring in South Africa's regulatory framework and consumer perspectives, this position offers a chance to take a pivotal role in how Old Mutual navigates this fluid environment.

The role encompasses a compelling mix of technical and commercial challenges, necessitating a well-rounded individual capable of collaborating efficiently with diverse teams and stakeholders across all levels. The successful applicant will lead and mentor a small group of actuarial students and professionals tasked with executing ongoing product management and delivering strategically important projects for this range of products.

The chosen candidate will join a team dedicated to ensuring Old Mutual fulfills its commitments to customers, thereby empowering them to achieve their financial aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

Grasping the evolving regulatory landscape, customer expectations, and market trends, and applying this knowledge to the continuous management of a diverse array of savings and income retail products. Offering strategic insights and product support to Old Mutual's business segments while collaborating closely with our business unit partners (IT, Servicing, Finance, Legal, distribution channels, etc.) to uphold customer commitments and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance and adherence to sound market conduct principles. Management responsibilities include strategy formulation, stakeholder engagement (including representing the area in various forums), product enhancements or rationalization, migration strategy and support, product assistance, and enhancing customer value. Clearly articulating product requirements to our IT partners and ensuring the precision of the resulting outputs. Leading and mentoring a small team of high-performing professionals while fostering a culture of high performance. This role emphasizes both savings and income products across our mass market and middle-income market segments.

Qualifications: Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Qualified Actuary (exceptional candidates who do not meet this criterion may still be considered) Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience 2-3 years of management experience Previous experience in product management or development is highly advantageous A strong advocate for customer interests Solution-oriented, passionate, energetic, and innovative Strong business acumen and negotiation capabilities A robust sense of ownership, initiative, and the ability to think critically under pressure Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with tight deadlines across a broad range of areas Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
