About the Role:

This senior leadership position requires a dynamic professional with strong financial management skills, experience in ERP systems, and excellent communication abilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee monthly group reporting, ensure accurate general ledger reconciliations, prepare and review IFS processes, and implement relevant accounting policies and procedures.
  2. Taxation Management: Prepare annual tax calculations, submit tax returns, control SARS-related payments, and review financial systems for VAT alignment with SARS requirements.
  3. Audit and Financial Control: Manage annual external and internal audits, prepare technically correct Annual Financial Statements, review cost control measures, and develop comprehensive monthly cost reporting.
  4. Treasury Management: Manage treasury functions, regulate compliance, control third-party payments, and conduct weekly/monthly cash forecasting to optimize resources.
  5. Process Improvement: Develop meaningful financial reports, create interfaces between accounting and reporting systems, implement process improvements for automated month-end reporting, and optimise payment systems.
  6. Team Leadership and Development: Ensure adequate training for financial staff, implement succession planning, career paths, and performance management, manage the finance team effectively, and drive adherence to strict reporting deadlines.
Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant (CA)
Experience:
Minimum 5 years post-article experience in project engineering or construction environments
5-10 years' experience in a leadership role
Demonstrated experience with ERP systems (IFS)
Knowledge and Behavioural Competencies:
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of financial reporting standards (IFRS), comprehensive knowledge of South African tax legislation and SARS requirements, strong understanding of financial systems integration and reporting tools, advanced knowledge of consolidation processes and financial controls, and expert understanding of cost management in project-based environments.
